Description
The Sta. Rita Hills-of Santa Barbara County- is the region's newest AVA. Just south of Santa Maria Valley and Los Alamos, Sta. Rita Hills is the windiest area in the region, characterized by steep vineyard slopes, stressed vines planted in calcerous soils, and the signature Santa Barbara County ocean influence. Wines from Sta. Rita Hills produce concentrated dark fruit characteristics and a distinct gravel minerality.
